
Before Google and Metacrawler and Excite and Hotbot and all the other tools we evolved to troll through centuries of human history and ideas, you could have an idea, and wonder, only imagine, if maybe it’s too good an idea, if someone somewhere has already thought of it and done it. Now you don’t have to wonder. You can search, and know immediately that not only has your idea been done, it’s been done a hundred ways and a thousand times. Before Google, we could only wonder how big the world and human history really is. Now we know.
